Mighty God

Almighty Sovereign God is the eternal and endless God. Before the very outset of this world, God was. Before there was anything that is, there was God. In the beginning, God spoke and from the force of His word things began to be created. From nothing, He was calling things into existence. God is the very necessary essence and power. He is the single necessary power and essence. By Him all things find their substance and being. God alone is the power and source of all things and by Him they are maintained and remain. Without Him all things cease.

The Lord God Jehovah is the only uncreated, infinite God. He is the Omnipotent God — He has all power. He is the Omniscient God — He knows all things. He is the Omnipresent God — He is everywhere present. The Lord our God is infinite — there are no boundaries or limitations to Him.

Psalm 90:2 NKJV Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.

What a MIGHTY GOD we serve!

  • Before  time — GOD
  • Before angels — GOD
  • Before space — GOD
  • Before heaven — GOD
  • Before earth — GOD

God alone is absolute.

  • He is absolute perfection.
  • He is absolute holiness.
  • He is absolute love.
  • There is none before Him and there will be none after Him.
  • He is endless, complete and perfect.
  • He is the Eternal God.

He ALONE  is GOD.

  • God is not the creation of man.
  • God said, “I am that I am.”
  • He is the changeless God.
  • He is the mighty God.

Deuteronomy 6:4 NKJV “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one!

Since God gave His commandments, Israel has referred to Deuteronomy 6:4-9 as the Shema. The Shema is a daily reminder that the Lord our God, the Lord is one!

God is known by many names:

  • He is Elohim — the Supreme God,  the Creator, Genesis 1:1- 2:3
  • He is Jehovah — the self-existent and eternal one, Genesis 15:8
  • He is Adonai Jehovah — the Lord God, Genesis 15:2
  • He is EL— the strong and mighty one, the Almighty God, Genesis 14:18
  • He is Eloah — The Divine One, Deuteronomy 32:15
  • He is Elah — God, Ezra 4:24
  • He is Jehovah Anî TSUR — The Lord my Rock or refuge, Psalms 18:2; Isaiah 44:8
  • He is EL SHADDI —  the almighty, all bountiful, all sufficient one, Exodus 6:3.

  • He is Jehovah M’kaddesh — the Lord our sanctification, Leviticus 20:7
  • He is Jehovah Shalom —  the God who calms our fears and gives us peace,  Judges 6:24
  • He is Jehovah Sabbaoth —  the Lord of Hosts with an army of angels, Isaiah 6:3.
  • He is Jehovah Roi —  the God who lives, sees and provides, Psalms 23
  • He is Jehovah Tsidkenu —  the Lord our righteousness, Jeremiah 23:6.
  • He is Jehovah Elyone —  the most High God, “Possessor of Heaven and Earth, Psalms 7:17
  • He is Jehovah Shammah —  the Lord who is present, Ezekiel 48:35.

By His WORD-  All things were made.

God’s word is so powerful He spoke and the world and everything that is in the universe came into existence.

WHAT A MIGHTY GOD WE SERVE.

Jesus Christ said we should call God our FATHER.

In Matthew 6:9, when Jesus was teaching His disciples to pray He said we should call God our Father in heaven. He is Abba Father.

In Romans 8:15, the Holy Spirit cries from within the church calling Him ABBA FATHER.

The deep desire of the believer’s heart is toward God our heavenly Father. The Holy Spirit within us cries out in hunger for the most High God, ABBA FATHER! God our Father is the life and breath of the universe, the church, and the individual believer. Everything that exists looks toward Him as our life and source.

WHAT A MIGHTY GOD WE SERVE.

With all of His power, majesty, and awesome holiness that God possesses and has revealed, man has never seen God.

Moses had many close encounters with the Almighty God. At the burning bush, God told him to take off his shoes for he was on holy ground, Exodus 3:5. Later, when Moses wanted to know more about the Almighty God, God told him to come up to Sinai.

Exodus 33:20-23 NKJV But He said, “You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live.” And the Lord said, “Here is a place by Me, and you shall stand on the rock. So it shall be, while My glory passes by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock, and will cover you with My hand while I pass by. Then I will take away My hand, and you shall see My back; but My face shall not be seen.”

The Lord God descended in the thick cloud and stood with Moses there, and proclaimed the name of the Lord, Exodus 34:5. For days after seeing the back of God, Moses face did shine as the sun.

The Lord our God is the Mighty God.

In the presence of Almighty God, the mountain did quake. None of the elders, priests or Levites could ascend God’s Holy Hill and dwell in and enjoy the presence of God. Humanity is cast out of God’s presence by sin. There is no entrance because sin dwells in us.

THEN JESUS CAME-  He was IMMANUEL   [God with Us]

John 1:14 NKJV And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Jesus opened peoples eyes to the Father.

In John 10:30 Jesus said: “I and my Father are ONE.”

John 14:9 NKJV Jesus said …”He who has seen Me has seen the Father.”

He is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. He is the rose of Sharon, the Lily of the Valley, and the Bright and Morning Star. Jesus revealed the bright and radiant glory of the Father. The glory that faded from Moses remained in Christ.

He caused blinded eyes to see, Mark 10:51-52.

Jesus told Bartimaeus, “Your faith has made you whole, and immediately he received his sight.” Mark 10:51-52.

He caused the lame to walk, John 5:8

The man by the pool of Bethesda had been lame for 38 years. Jesus said: “ARISE take up your bed and walk, and immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked.

The woman who was diseased with a constant flow of blood pressed through the crowd to touch the hem of His garment, Matthew 9:20.

As soon as she touched Jesus, she was made clean and well.

Lazarus was dead and in the grave for three days, John 11:2-43.

Mary and Martha believed that Jesus was the resurrection and the life. As soon as Jesus said, “Lazarus, come forth!” the dead man came back to life.

He cast out demons and cleansed lepers. He fed thousands with a sack lunch and walked on the water. He spoke to the seas and the wind and they obeyed Him.

Everyone who saw Him knew WHO HE IS… Jesus is the Son of God.

After walking with them for 3 years, Jesus told His disciples, “I am going away.” Immediately, helplessness and despair gripped their souls. The Resurrection and the Life was leaving them. The Hope of all of the ages was going back to the Father. While He had walked with them they beheld His glory and witnessed the power of God.

Then Jesus said in John 14:16-18 NKJV And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever — the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

This was the Promise of the Father that the Holy Spirit would come to them.

Fifty days after Jesus ascended back to the Father, on the Day of Pentecost the COMFORTER descended upon them in the upper room.

  • We have known God the Father — His works, creations, glory, power and holiness.
  • We know Creator God —  the Father.
  • We know Redeemer God —  the Son.
  • Now the Comforter — the Holy Spirit — has come upon the believer.

The Holy Spirit is not a lesser God.

He is GOD ALMIGHTY.

The Holy Spirit has come.

  • He has come in power.
  • He  has come to comfort and guide.
  • He has come to teach and build up.
  • He has come to abide.
  • He abides in the high and the low places.
  • He abides in the wide and the narrow places.
  • He abides in the mountains and in the valleys.
  • He abides in the heart of believers.
  • He can open doors and no man can shut them.
  • He can shut doors and no man can open them.
  • He has come to empower and equip believers.
  • He has come to give fruit and gifts.

The Holy Spirit is Exclusive.

John 14:17says, “He is the Spirit of Truth that the World cannot receive.”

Jesus said, “He shall be with you and in you.” When the Comforter comes, He will minister to the heirs of promise.

He is the seal and guarantee in our hearts.

2 Corinthians 1:21-22 NKJV Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

We have the seal of the blood of Christ and then we have the seal of the Holy Spirit. As long as the seal remains, we are protected. Satan cannot break the seal.

We need the Holy Spirit.

When the seal is present we have the fruit of the Spirit in us.

Galatians 5:22-23 NKJV But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

The fruit is a sign and testimony that the Holy Spirit is present.

We are given gifts from the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

The Father gives spiritual gifts to each person so they can fulfill their purpose in life, Romans 12:3-8.

The seven gifts from the Father are prophecy, ministry, teaching, exhortation, giving, leadership, and mercy.

The Son has given five spiritual gifts for ministry, apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers, Ephesians 4:11.

The Holy Spirit distributes nine diverse gifts to the church as He will, 1 Corinthians 12:8-10.

He gives three gifts of wisdom — word of wisdom, word of knowledge, and discerning of spirits. He gives three gifts of power — faith, healings and miracles. He gives three gifts of divine utterance — tongues, interpretation of tongues, and prophecy.

The Lord our God is the Mighty God.

He is edifying, strengthening and building His church. He will continue giving the breath of life to His people. He will build you up and establish you in the faith.

We serve the MIGHTY GOD.

Moses was given the privilege to walk up Mount Sinai into the glory cloud and know the Almighty in His power. When he walked into the glory cloud, he saw God and was changed. Through the precious blood of Jesus, God has made it possible for you to know the MIGHTY GOD. He has opened up a way for you to come into His presence and be filled, equipped and empowered by His Spirit.

You have been given an invitation to come and know Him.
