Connected — Evidences of Your Connection

Connected — Evidences of Your Connection

Everyone has some idea of what will happen when they are connected to something that is greater, stronger, and mightier. Our connection with Christ produces within us evidences of who and what He is. Specific things happen as a result of your connection with Christ and these things produce a lasting change in our nature, daily life and eternal destiny.

  • When you become connected to Christ, God puts His Spirit on you.
  • When He puts His Spirit on you, He puts His word in your mouth and covers you with His favor.
  • Then He covers you with His hand.
  • God does all of this so that He can manifest through you what is in Christ and what you are in Him.

Galatians 2:20 NKJV I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

By faith we have been united to Christ in His death and this produces within us a new kind of life. Being crucified with Christ gives us victory over the old life that we lived. When His resurrection life begins to flow through you, it brings a newfound strength and energy that truly demonstrates His amazing victory, power, and nature! As a result of this connection with Christ, the life we now live is a manifestation of the life of Christ. There is victory and power in this new life. One of the most incredible things that comes from this connection is the Holy Spirit coming upon and into us!

Throughout the Old Testament when the Holy Spirit came upon individuals, they began prophesying and doing amazing works of power by the Holy Spirit.

  • Because God filled Moses with His Spirit, he was able to do so many incredible things by the Holy Spirit’s power! When he came to realize that he was unable to do everything alone, Moses called seventy elders and officers of the people to come to the tent of meeting. The LORD took of the Spirit that was upon Moses and put it upon the elders and officers of the people, and they prophesied, (Numbers 11:23). Two of the seventy (Eldad and Medad) remained in the camp and the Spirit rested upon them and they prophesied in the camp. When Moses was told about them he said, “Are you zealous for my sake? Oh, that all the LORD’s people were prophets and that the LORD would put His Spirit upon them!” (Numbers 11:27-29).
  • After Samuel anointed Saul as king, he came upon a group of prophets, and the Spirit came upon him and he began prophesying, (1 Samuel 10:8).
  • When Saul sent messengers to take David, they came upon Samuel and a group of prophets and the Spirit of God came upon them and they also prophesied or spoke by divine inspiration ( 1 Samuel 19:19).
  • Jeduthan prophesied using a harp in thanking and praising God, (1 Chronicles 25:3)
  • When the Holy Spirit came upon and controlled Zechariah, (John the Baptist’s father) he prophesied, (Luke 1:67).
  • In Acts 19:6 when Paul laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.
  • In 1 Corinthians 14:5 Paul said, “I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied.”

Isaiah 59:21 NKJV “As for Me,” says the Lord, “this is My covenant with them: My Spirit who is upon you, and My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your descendants, nor from the mouth of your descendants’ descendants,” says the Lord, “from this time and forevermore.”

Evidence that the Spirit of God is resting upon us is the Word that God puts in our mouths. There is a specific reason God puts His word in our mouth. We see evidence of this throughout the Bible. God’s word has the power of life within it. When God sent His word, people were healed, delivered from their captivities and brought into God’s favor. Many times Jesus spoke the word and signs, wonders, and miracles happened. When you enjoy this connection with the Lord Jesus Christ, the life-giving and powerful word of God should be in your mouth. One of the major influences of your connection to Christ is the words of encouragement and power that come out of your mouth. His presence and the presence of the Holy Spirit will cause your mouth to be filled with Spirit-inspired words of praise, worship and declaration. His word in your mouth will produce evidences of your connection. Out of the abundance of your heart your mouth will speak.

Isaiah 51:11 NKJV So the ransomed of the Lord shall return, And come to Zion with singing, With everlasting joy on their heads. They shall obtain joy and gladness; Sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

You need to be reminded that the Lord has put His claim on your life and wants you to be filled with joy and gladness.

When God put His Spirit upon you and filled your mouth with His word, He covered you with His favor.

Isaiah 51:12 NKJV “I, even I, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you should be afraid…”

Listen closely to this. It is evident that those to whom Isaiah was prophesying were filled with fear, anxiety and worry over the things that were about to happen. God was asking them, why are you afraid of death and what may happen, “I, even I, am He who comforts you.” You can expand that into every area and facet of your life. Who are you that you should be afraid? Do you recognize the connection that you have to the Lord God almighty?

Isaiah 51:13 NKJV And you forget the Lord your Maker, Who stretched out the heavens And laid the foundations of the earth; You have feared continually every day because of the fury of the oppressor, when he has prepared to destroy. And where is the fury of the oppressor?

Isaiah 51:15 NKJV But I am the Lord your God, Who divided the sea whose waves roared—The Lord of hosts is His name.

Isaiah 51:16 NKJV And I have put My words in your mouth; I have covered you with the shadow of My hand, That I may plant the heavens, Lay the foundations of the earth, And say to Zion, ‘You are My people.’ ”

After telling them “You have forgotten the Lord your Maker,” God reminded them that He is still God. Listen again to this word, “I, even I, am He who comforts you. Who are you that you should be afraid,” (Isaiah 51:12, NKJV). The God Who laid the foundations of the earth is saying, “Trust in Me.”

Look closely at verse 16, “I have put My words in your mouth; I have covered you with the shadow of My hand, That I may plant the heavens, Lay the foundations of the earth, And say to Zion, ‘You are My people.’ ”

This verse is filled with God’s plan to connect you to His actions. God put His Spirit on you. Then He put His word in your mouth. He covered you with His favor. Then He covered you with His hand. God is doing all of this in you so that He can manifest through you what is in Christ. God desires for the world to recognize your connection to Christ by infusing you with the strength to bear fruit that serves as a testimony of His presence within you. Fruit is not just for your benefit. God is blessing you, showing you His favor, and giving you His Spirit so you can be a testimony of His presence in your life.

Psalm 5:11–12 NKJV But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; Let those also who love Your name be joyful in You. For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield.

Pay attention to the evidences of your connection with Christ. In Him is your strength and life. In Christ is reason to shout for joy. In Him is your blessing and defense. In Christ you have reason to rejoice and be joyful. In Christ is the victory and the power.

You can trust the connection.

Psalm 32:7 NKJV You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah

Psalm 56:4 AMP By [the help of] God I will praise His word; on God I lean, rely, and confidently put my trust; I will not fear.

What can we expect to happen as a result of our connection to Christ?

God has prepared you to not only be a vessel that receives His Spirit, blessing, and favor, He has prepared you to be a radiant expression of His glory. Through you, other people will see and know the power of His Spirit and glory. The evidences of your connection will impact your healing, life of victory, and righteousness. God is telling you today, “Don’t forget the Lord your Maker, Who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth.” His arm has not been shortened and His strength has not failed. God is doing all of this so that He can manifest through you what is in Christ and what you are in Him.

1 John 4:4 TPT Little children, you can be certain that you belong to God and have conquered them, for the One who is living in you is far greater than the one who is in the world.
