The Spirit of Life by the Blood of Christ

The Spirit of Life by the Blood of Christ

The Blood of Christ makes it possible for believers to enter into a new life that is empowered by the Spirit. This Spirit of Life by the blood of Christ is an overcoming and victorious life that is made possible because Jesus Christ defeated the principalities and powers and rulers of darkness, triumphing over them in the cross, (Colossians 2:14-15). When Jesus accomplished this victory, He canceled every violation on our record that stood against us and erased the sins that stained our soul. When He did that, we were cleansed and the Spirit of Life made it possible for us live in Christ’s victory. As soon as you put your trust in the blood of Jesus Christ, this “power of God” started working to bring overcoming victory.

Romans 8:1-2 NKJV There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

1 John 5:4-5 NKJV For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

This faith that gives us the ability to live in victory has been established upon the solid foundation of the finished work of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Our victory and overcoming life has not been established on the covenant and Law of Moses. The Law has never been able to bring peace, joy, or victory over sin. Through the Law, we come to know the power of sin and death and we became increasingly sinful. Everything changes when we have faith in Jesus Christ.

Now, the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus brings us into His overcoming victory.

Unwavering faith in Christ’s atoning, sanctifying, and powerful blood brings this new life in the Spirit. This victory is not limited to the authoritative action we take when the enemy comes. This overcoming victory represents the new life that has been acquired through Christ’s sacrifice and the power, life and function of the Holy Spirit within. This “Spirit of life by the blood of Christ” brings the believer into a position of authority that has been given to the heirs of salvation.

As a result our testimony is:

  • “I have been redeemed by the blood of Christ!”
  • “I am more than a conqueror by the blood of Christ!”
  • “I am free from condemnation through the blood of Jesus Christ!”
  • “I have been made righteous through the blood of Christ!”
  • “I am living in victory through the blood of Jesus Christ!”

This Spirit of life by the blood of Christ must be more than a declaration of purpose, it must be a fact of our lives.

This is not a goal but a position of power and covering in the blood of Christ. We know that we are covered and kept by the power of the blood of Christ.

What has happened in us directly addresses all of the condemnation and weakness of our old life.

From the moment Adam and Eve transgressed against God, Satan has been attempting to gain an upper hand against anyone who trusts in God. When Jesus accomplished this victory, Satan lost authority and victory was gained for us through Christ’s blood. Listen to the resurrected and glorious Christ’s statement of victory and authority.

Revelation 1:17-18 KJV “Fear not; I am the First and the Last: I am He that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.”

Hebrews 2:14 says: “Through death He has destroyed him that had the power of death that is the devil.”

Our victory has been gained by the blood of Jesus Christ the Lamb of God.

This victory is threefold.

  • It has been gained once for all.
  • It is a progressive victory.
  • We have a share in this victory.

First, the Lamb of God gained the victory once for all time.

Jesus gained victory over sin and over Satan. The power of sin and death was broken and through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, victory came. The victory that Christ gained for us is a surpassing victory that does not have to be gained again. This new victorious life is much more than what can be achieved by obedience to the Law.

In the book of Daniel, Michael the Archangel was in conflict with Satan.

He was interceding for God’s people against Satan. It appeared that the people of God were in a conflict that could not be won.

Things are different now.

Now, the blood of Jesus Christ has given us power over Satan and has given us the Spirit of Life and made us partakers of Christ’s life and victory. Since you are covered by the blood of Christ, Satan does not have access. You have been redeemed and cleansed by Christ’s blood. The Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made us free. The weakness of our human nature and flesh has always brought the accusing voice of condemnation. Listen to the impact of what has happened.

Romans 8:1-2 ESV There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.

Second, there is progressive victory that gains its authority and power from Christ’s victory.

The overcoming life by the blood of Christ constantly brings us into His victory and Spirit of Life.

As a born-again blood cleansed believer, we have a privilege and duty to live in this victory.

Whenever the accuser comes against us, we have power over him through the blood of the Lamb. We must take a stand and take action.

“They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb” — is the determined action of believers.

This requires vigilance and perseverance. Whenever the enemy comes in, you can remain and stand in the power of the blood of Christ. When your flesh feels weak, put your faith in Christ. When you take that stand and refuse to give up, Satan will be defeated. The blood of the Lamb of God gives us victory.

To maintain this progressive victory that is in Christ, we must persevere through every conflict.

We are not living in a position of weakness or defeat, but in victory and life in Christ. Regardless of Satan’s attack or attempts, we  have a surpassing victory over him through Christ.

To maintain this victorious life through the blood of the Lamb, we must be vigilant, strong and mighty through God.

God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind.

We have a song of victory… “I have overcome by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of my testimony.”  This is our anthem of victory.

Our victory is through faith in Christ.

1 John 5:4-5 NIV For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

Our faith trusts in Jesus and His Word. He said, “Be of good cheer I have overcome.” When we stand, live, and move in faith in Christ’s finished work, we will have overcoming victory. This is why the word of our testimony is important. We do not meet the adversary or life’s situations in our own strength or weakness. We stand, live and move in Jesus who is our Victory. The blood of Jesus Christ has made us more than conquerors and we now have the Spirit of Life working in us. Our faith gives us confidence.

Faith in the power of the blood of Jesus Christ gives us the Spirit of Life.

We have an entrance into everything that the blood of Christ has supplied. By His blood, we are made kings and priests to God. We have been given the Spirit of an overcoming victor by the blood of Christ. We have courage, power, and victory through the blood of Christ. When your flesh is weak and you are under attack, keep reminding yourself that Jesus Christ overwhelmingly conquered every principality and power of darkness. For in Him we live and move and have our being.

Colossians 2:15 AMP God disarmed the principalities and powers that were ranged against us and made a bold display and public example of them, in triumphing over them in Him and in the cross.

The triumph of the blood of the Lamb of God publicly defeated and disarmed the powers of evil and darkness. Your overwhelming victory is in the Spirit of life and the blood of Christ.

Revelation 12:11 NKJV And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

There are two popular views of this word “by.”

They overcome by using the blood of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, as a weapon.

When we recognize the power of the blood, we can take action. By the blood of Christ, the people of God prevail over all of the enemy’s accusations and attacks.

The word “by” makes reference to what Christ has already achieved.

We have been made to overcome on the account and authority of the blood of Christ. Since Jesus Christ has arisen in victory, we have been made to be overcomers. The blood of Jesus Christ has satisfied all of the charges against us and has provided us with the basis for victory. We live, move and have our being in His victory.

Third, we have a share in the victory that Christ has gained.

We need to settle the fact that we have been brought into a new life in Christ. The life you now live is empowered by Christ’s victory and the Holy Spirit.

Galatians 2:20 NKJV I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

You are covered and protected by the blood of Jesus.

The blood of Jesus has brought us into the overcoming life of victory by the Spirit.

You belong to God and have been made a partaker of Christ’s victory. God has declared us righteous and victorious through the blood of Jesus Christ.

Through the blood of Christ, we have the Spirit of Life.
