Renew… My Position in Christ

The New Testament refers to the believer’s position in Christ Jesus over 130 times. Your position in Christ ensures that whatever He accomplished was accomplished for and in you. We need to renew our position in Christ.

There are three things every believer needs to renew in relation to their personal position in Christ Jesus.

1. 1. We must know what Christ has accomplished for us in the cross.
   2. We must accept and declare that what Christ has accomplished is effective in our lives.
   3. We must learn to stand in our legal position in Christ’s victory.

For you to live in the victory that overcomes the world, you must know what Jesus Christ accomplished for you on His cross and by His resurrection.

What Christ accomplished is the greatest act of love and self-sacrifice that humanity and heaven has witnessed. God, the eternal Son, emptied Himself of the form of God and took on the form of a servant, and being made in the likeness of a man, He humbled Himself to the point of death on the cross, ( Philippians 2:5-7). Consider the fact that God the Son humbled Himself and endured pain, shame, contradiction of sinners, and the cross so that He may lift you up and give you new life.

Why did Christ come into this world?

1 Timothy 1:15  Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.

John 12:46 Jesus said, “I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.”

John 10:10 “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

Luke 4:18-19 NLT “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for He has anointed Me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.”

Christ’s cross radically changed our lives and destinies.

As a result of what He did, you have a new standing as a child of God. You are justified by faith and have access to God. As an heir with Christ, you are a functioning temple of the Holy Spirit. Since you have been made a part of His body, you are blessed with every spiritual blessing and are sealed with the Holy Spirit guaranteeing your inheritance reserved in heaven.

Second, we must accept and declare that what Christ accomplished is effective in our lives.

Do you believe that Jesus Christ included you in His cross, death, and resurrection?

Galatians 2:20 NKJV I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

Have you accepted the fact that the eternal Son of God came down to this earth for you? His crucifixion and death brought an end to the power of sin and death that held you captive. Jesus Christ came to release you from the history of all the bad things that have happened in your life. He came to break the chains of your sinful behavior. He came to release you from the oppression of cruel and unjust treatment. He came to proclaim the Good News to you and bring you into God’s favor.

You need to accept and declare that what Christ accomplished is effective and powerful in your life.

The Son of God has made me free. I am truly free from the old habits and sins of my past. I am truly free from the old accusations, criticism, and complaints that were made against me. I am free from the tyranny of past oppressions and unjust treatments. I have been redeemed from my old condemnations and have new life living in me.

It is important to accept and declare what Christ has brought you out of, but you also need to declare what you now are in Christ.

• Galatians 4:4 — I am “no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.”
• Romans 8:37 — I am “more than a conqueror through Him who loved us.”
• Romans 8:38-39 — I am persuaded that… nothing is able to separate me from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
• Ephesians 1:7 — I am “redeemed through His precious blood.”
• I am no longer condemned but I am a justified child of God, and have access to God as an heir in Christ, (Romans 8:1; Romans 3:24; Ephesians 2:18).
• I can come boldly to God’s throne to obtain mercy and find grace in time of need, (Hebrews 4:16).
• I am sealed by the Holy Spirit and blessed with every spiritual blessing, (Ephesians 1:3).
• I am a righteous, justified and overcoming child of God, (2 Corinthians 5:21; Philippians 3:9).
• I declare there is an inheritance reserved in heaven for me, (2 Timothy 4:8; 1 Peter 1:3-5).

Third, we must learn to stand in our legal position in Christ’s victory.

Galatians 5:1 NKJV Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.

This is where you must live. The freedom of your position in Christ has been fully and freely provided by God’s grace. Satan and every demon of hell cannot alter what God in Christ has achieved for you. There is a security in what has been accomplished by Christ for you. So put on the whole armor of God and take a strong stand against every attack that is waged against you, (Ephesians 6:10-18). We are going to war against spiritual forces of darkness that are attacking our mind and bodies.

In Christ Jesus, demand and decree those negative and destructive thoughts to leave. A decree is an order, command, and proclamation. This is action that is taken on the legal grounds of what Christ has accomplished for you. 2 Corinthians 10:2 tell us to “Bring every thought and attitude captive to the obedience of Christ.” If you belong to Christ, you should remind yourself of this and accept nothing less. Stop confessing and repeating every bad thing that has come against your life. Demand those thoughts to come into the obedience of Christ.

You need to say it and make it a decree against every negative activity that is coming against you to destroy you.

• “I know that I am a redeemed and blood bought child of God.”
• “I know that I have been set free from the captivity of my past.”
• “I know that I am on my way to heaven.”

On the basis of what Christ has accomplished, Satan, evil, and those old lifestyles and ways have no power over my life. The Bible says, “Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” You are not weak but you are mighty through God to pull down the strongholds of the enemy. Those things that have tormented your mind and life have no power over you in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 6:10 NKJV Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

Ephesians 6:13 NKJV Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore…

You have been supernaturally infused with strength through your union with the LORD Jesus Christ. You must learn to stand victorious with the force of His explosive power flowing in and through you. You are mighty through God and you will arise in victory.

Renew …My Position in Christ

God wants to break the things that have been oppressing and distressing you. He wants to release new joy, life and favor into your life. He is proclaiming victory over those things.
