We who have hope in Christ are looking for His return. The message of His coming was not just to Bethlehem, it is a word of hope that will be fulfilled by His second coming.

Psalm 24:7 NKJV Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in.

When ancient cities had walls and gates, watchmen set on the walls. The watchmen were guards who would allow or deny access into the cities. This message is for those who are watching for the coming of the King of glory. This is a declaration and prophecy to prepare a way for the coming of the Lord. You need to know that Jesus is coming.

Psalm 24:8 NKJV Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle.

Who is the King of glory?

We need to know Who the King is that is coming. When the King of glory comes in, He will take the scepter of His kingdom with His nail pierced hands. The King of glory is the Lord strong and mighty.

Psalm 24:9 NKJV  Lift up your heads, O you gates! Lift up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in.

Be alert and prepare a way for the King of glory is coming. It appears that the watchmen were weary and forsaken.

God told Isaiah about this hope and salvation. The King would come with a crown of glory. When He appears, His people would no longer be forsaken or desolate. They would be the Lord’s bride. With that prophetic promise, God told Isaiah to speak this word.

Isaiah 62:6 NKJV “I have set watchmen on your walls… and they shall never hold their peace day or night. You who make mention of the Lord, do not keep silent.”

The message is clear. God is telling us to prepare a way for the coming of the Lord. Everyone who has heard this word should be lifting up their voice. You who claim the Lord as your Savior should not keep silent.

The Lord of glory is coming.

Psalm 24:10 NKJV  Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory.

The first time He came in humility, He was despised and rejected. When He comes the second time, He will come in power and great glory! When He came the first time, His hands and side were pierced and He was crucified on a cross. When He comes the second time, He will come in power and great glory!

Who is the King of Glory?

Jeremiah and God’s people had been through a great time of mourning. They had been captives and had been devoured by their foes, (Jeremiah 30:16). God had a prophetic word for them that resounds throughout the hosts of believers.

Jeremiah 30:16 NKJV ‘Therefore all those who devour you shall be devoured; And all your adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; Those who plunder you shall become plunder, And all who prey upon you I will make a prey.

Get ready for God is ready to turn things around.

Jeremiah 30:17 NKJV For I will restore health to you And heal you of your wounds,’ says the Lord, ‘Because they called you an outcast saying: “This is Zion; No one seeks her.” ’

You need to hear this good word of promise. God said He would restore and have compassion. Where there had been sounds of defeat and destruction, God is going to turn things around. Health is coming. Your wounds are going to be healed.

Jeremiah 30:19 NKJV Then out of them shall proceed thanksgiving And the voice of those who make merry; I will multiply them, and they shall not diminish; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.

The time of mourning and grief is going to pass. The time of despair and hurt is going to come to an end. God is promising the redemption of His people. Let me tell you again. Lift up your heads and rejoice for your redemption is drawing nigh. You need to get ready for the Lord is coming with power and great glory.

Luke 21:27 NKJV Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

From the beginning of the prophecy about Christ’s coming, the world has been looking for His coming in glory. Do not become weary in well doing. Prepare a way for the King of Glory is coming. When He comes in power and great glory, He is going to change things.

Jeremiah 30:23-24 NKJV Behold, the whirlwind of the Lord— Goes forth with fury, A continuing whirlwind; It will fall violently on the head of the wicked. The fierce anger of the Lord will not turn back until He has executed and accomplished the intentions of his mind. In the latter days you will understand this.

Jeremiah was looking through God’s eyes to a time when the Lord Himself shall reign in glory and great power. God told Jeremiah that a day of great relief and rejoicing is coming. God said He would turn their mourning into dancing and joy. He would comfort them and give gladness for their sorrow. We are so familiar with a world that is reeling and rocking under the sway of the wicked. We know the sound of sorrow, lamentation, and weeping.

There is a day coming when the King of Glory is going to turn things around. Rejoice oh you gates and you everlasting doors, the King of Glory is going to turn things around.

How can we prepare a way for the coming of the Lord?

Isaiah 40:1-2 ESV Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and cry to her that her warfare is ended, that her iniquity is pardoned, that she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.

To get His people prepared for Christ’s coming in glory and power, God wants to bring a great revival. This revival will be accompanied by pardon for sin and an overflow of God’s favor and blessing. God has prepared this hour for a multiplication of His grace and blessings.

Isaiah 40:3 ESV A voice cries: “In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

If we are going to be prepared for His coming in glory and great power, we must become diligent about getting things right with God. We must become vigilant about declaring this message of great hope and joy. Jesus is coming again.

Isaiah 40:4 ESV Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain.

Even though you have been through great times of trouble and trial, God is going to smooth things out. Get ready for the outpouring of God’s blessings. We need to declare the Good News far and wide. Let this message of great hope come out of your mouth and rest in your minds. Christ our Redeemer is coming to heal the sick, raise the dead, and give new life.

The King of glory is coming.

Isaiah 40:5 ESV And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

God’s glory is going to be revealed.

What does that mean? Every time God has come down with great power, His glory has been made known. He did it on Sinai with Moses. He did it in the upper room with the 120. This is a message of good news.

God is coming with might and His arm shall rule for Him.

Isaiah 40:11 ESV He will tend His flock like a shepherd; He will gather the lambs in His arms; He will carry them in His bosom, and gently lead those that are with young.

Isaiah 11 tells of a day when the Lord shall come to earth again. The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon the Redeemer. Jesus Christ shall rule in power and glory. The Spirit of wisdom, understanding, counsel, and might shall rest upon Him. In righteousness, He will rule and judge the earth with equity. Nothing shall hurt or destroy in His holy mountain. The earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

Psalm 24:9 ESV Lift up your heads, O gates! And lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.

The prophets of God declared to every believer that the day of the Lord is swiftly coming. It is time for us to lift up our heads from all of the disaster and evil that is happening around us. Turn your eyes to the King of Glory. He is coming in power. Rejoice for the Lord of Host is coming in power and great glory.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 NKJV For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.
