The Lord Jesus often spoke of the Father’s care for His people. The theme was repeated in many ways throughout the Bible. In Matthew 6, Jesus told us to throw all of our care over on Him.
Matthew 6:25-34 NKJV “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Matthew 28:18-20 NKJV And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
This text has a twofold meaning.
First, it is a period of time: “Lo, I am with you always.”
The Lord is telling us that He will be with us all the time. That is good news when we are in trouble and when everything is going great. He is with us in health and in sickness. When the Lord says “always,” it means more than when other people say “always.” When He says “always,” He means every second of every day. When He says “always,” it means that He will never, never, never leave us nor forsake us.
Second, it refers to distance and events.
He will be with us to the end of the world. That is not only duration of time, He will be with us in a way that never ends or changes. He is with us in life and in death. He is with us in the present, in the future, and throughout all eternity. The Lord will continue to be our permanent protection.
Jesus is talking about perpetual care guaranteed.
We have perpetual care because we are in the hands of a loving heavenly Father.
John 10:29 NKJV My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.
No man, demon, or devil can pluck us out of God’s hand as long as we remain in His hand. We can come to Him and remain safe. There is a place in the Father’s hand for every one of us.
Psalm 121:2-3 NKJV My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. He will not allow your foot to be moved; He who keeps you will not slumber.
Psalm 121:5 NKJV The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand.
All kinds of health issues arise from stress and worry. Many people suffer from stress and worry related conditions. You need to know that your heavenly Father is watching over you.

Why should I feel discouraged?
Why should the shadows come?
Why should my heart be lonely?
And long for heaven and home?
When Jesus is my portion, my constant friend is He.
His eye is on the sparrow and I know He watches me.

For His eye is on the sparrow
And I know He watches me
We should put all of our trust in God.
We have perpetual care because we are in the hands of Jesus Christ.
John 10:28 NKJV And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.
Consider the works of Christ’s hands.
He touched the sick and they were healed. In Matthew 19:13-14, they brought little children to Jesus so that He might put His hands on them and blessed them. His hands were pierced with nails on the cross of Calvary. His hands are filled with love. We are kept safe in those hands.
Jude 24, tells us He is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy.
We have perpetual care because we are in the hands of the Holy Spirit.
John 14:16-17 NKJV And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever …for He dwells with you and will be in you.
John 14:18 KJV Jesus said: “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.”
Jesus made this declaration in the middle of a message about His perpetual care. God the Trinity is invested in your care.
John 14:21 NKJV He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”
During that sermon, Jesus certified the care that is given to those who love Him.
Listen to His words in verse 27.
John 14:27 NKJV Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
The Lord wants you to know that you are being cared for. In eleven verses of John 14, Jesus tells us that God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are watching over you. For this reason, you should have peace in your heart.
When the Holy Spirit comes to you, He will bring the care and supply that comes from the Father and from Christ.
When the Holy Spirit comes to you, He will show you things to come and will give you things from heaven. His intervention will give peace and direction for your life.
Everyone who commits themselves to God is going to get that help.
We have perpetual care because God is above us.
Psalm 91:1 NKJV He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
We have God’s protection above us. God is watching over us.
We have perpetual care because God is beneath us.
Deuteronomy 33:27 NKJV The eternal God is your refuge, And underneath are the everlasting arms.
I love the image that creates in my mind. The everlasting arms of God are underneath you. If Satan and the gates of hell arise up from below, we are held up in God’s everlasting arms. You need to know that you are held, shielded, and protected by His arms.
We have perpetual care because God is going before us.
The Psalmist said, “The Lord is my Shepherd.” In John 10:4 He brings out His own sheep, He goes before them; and they follow Him and know His voice.
We have perpetual care because God is all around us.
- Psalms 23:6 says “goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life…”
- Exodus 14, the pillar of fire was behind Israel and kept the Egyptians from destroying them in the wilderness.
- Exodus 14:13-14, God told them: “You will not need to fight. Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today.”
- Even if ten thousand are fighting against you on your right hand, they will not come near you, Psalms 91:7
- God said the Angel of the Lord encamps around about those who fear Him, and delivers them, Psalms 34:7
- The eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, on those who hope in His mercy, Psalms 33:18.
We have perpetual care because God will fight for us.
- In Exodus 14:14, God said: “The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
- In Deuteronomy 1:30, The Lord goes before you and He will fight for you.
- In Deuteronomy 20:4, “The Lord your God is He Who goes with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.”
- In Joshua 23:10, He said, “One of you shall chase a thousand, for the Lord your God is He who fights for you.”
- Nehemiah 4:20, “Our God will fight for us.”
- Jeremiah 15:20, “They shall not prevail against you; For I am with you to save you and deliver you,” says the Lord.
You may have to take a stand, but the battle is the Lord’s. He will fight for you if you will let Him. He is your defense and He is the rock of your refuge. You can fight for yourself and use carnal weapons. God will let you do that if you please.
God has given you perpetual care, and He will keep you safe. Put your faith and trust in Him. You need to know that the Lord knows how to help you. He knows how to destroy the enemy that comes against you.
