God is — Unshakable Confidence

For all who dwell in His presence God is unshakable confidence. God’s strength, power and stability gives this confidence to those who put their faith and trust in Him. His knowledge, wisdom, and might causes believers to rest in His peace and sovereign control even in the valley of the shadow of death. When we consider the confidence that we have in God, we know down deep that we shall not be moved but strengthened by His presence and provision. God is our source of unshakable confidence even if the earth trembles and shakes. Even if we are made to sit in the presence of our enemies, God makes our cup overflow. When troubles abound on every side, we can have unshakable confidence in God. If when we must face the fire or the flood, God wants to instill such unshakable confidence in us that we can rest, trust and be renewed in Him.

Almighty God wants you to have peace in knowing that He wants to do good for you.

He has more planned for you than you have dreamed or even thought possible. He has a greater portion of His Spirit and power available for you. His favor and blessing is more abundant than your need can ever exhaust.

Psalm 23:1-6 NKJV The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.

This is a principle of God’s amazing love and care over His people.

It is important for us to note that God does not remove the enemy and the causes of fear. In fact, He sets a table for us in the presence of our enemies. It is in the valley where He restores our soul. When the enemy is watching what is happening, God sets us up for blessing. The extent of His blessing is so great that our cup overflows. We want to talk about going from victory to victory. What that really means is we are going from battle to battle, but God always leads us into triumph. In the middle of your test and difficulty, look for God to do something so great that His name is exalted. He wants to turn your focus to His ability to renew your strength in the presence of your enemies. He wants to strengthen you in His presence so that you can boldly face whatever may come.

You can have unshakable confidence in God.

This unshakable confidence does not waver regardless of what comes or goes. It comes by knowing that God is present and is able to see you through anything that may come.

Psalm 124:1-8 NKJV “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side,” Let Israel now say — “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, When men rose up against us, Then they would have swallowed us alive, When their wrath was kindled against us; Then the waters would have overwhelmed us, The stream would have gone over our soul; Then the swollen waters Would have gone over our soul.” Blessed be the Lord, Who has not given us as prey to their teeth. Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; The snare is broken, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.

God gives unshakable confidence so we can stand strong regardless of what may come.

You need to know that God is prepared for everything that can come up against you. Throughout the Bible, God’s men and women often thought they were up against insurmountable odds.

Since they were looking at the things that were against them, they felt they could be swallowed up at any time.

They needed to develop such confidence in God that they could sit down at the table He prepared and be renewed and refreshed. God never promised that everything would be easy and that trouble would not come. He did promise that He would be with us and give the strength that we need.

In Isaiah 40:31 God said, “If you wait on the Lord, your strength will be renewed.”

In Deuteronomy 28:7 God promised, “Your enemy will come against you one way and they will flee before you seven ways.”

You can trust God and have perfect peace and confidence in the presence of the enemy.

John 16:33 AMPJesus said, “In Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [be confident]! For I have overcome the world.”

You are not like the people who are in the world. The world is shaken with all of the devastating news and catastrophic disasters. They do not have confidence that everything is going to be all right.

You can have unshakable confidence in God.

Since God is your help and strength, you can stand strong and not give up or give in. God has taken extra-ordinary steps for you to have unshakable confidence in Him.

In Ephesians 6:13 Paul said: “Put on the whole armor of God so that you may be able to withstand in the evil day and having done all to stand.”

He said an evil day is coming.

In the evil day, you can be so equipped, strengthened and renewed by God that you are able to stand with unshakable confidence.

In 2 Chronicles 20, King Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah faced an impossible situation.

The evil day arrived when three large armies surrounded them and were ready to attack. Jehoshaphat’s men rushed to give him the bad news. They said, “A great multitude is coming against us.” They said, “The enemy will be here any day and we are outnumbered 10 to 1.” “We don’t have a chance.”

They wanted the king to tell them what to do.

Has that ever happened to you? Everyone was looking at you for the answer. It was the worst news the King had ever heard. The enemy was attacking from every direction.

Sometimes in life you are going to face situations that seem to have no answer.

In Psalm 23, David said: “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death.”

You may have to go through a deep valley. You may not even know the way through. David did not stop in the valley of the shadow of death. He said, “I will fear no evil; for You are with me.”

After Jehoshaphat received the worst possible news he turned to God.

2 Chronicles 20:3 says, “After he feared, he set himself to seek the Lord.”

He invited everyone to join him in prayer and they gathered before God at the temple.

King Jehoshaphat prayed this powerful prayer.

2 Chronicles 20:5-12 says, “Oh Lord God, there is no God in the heavens except You. There is no god like You. You are so strong, so mighty, so powerful. Who can stand against You? … But now God, these three mighty armies are coming against us. But we know God, You have the power to stop them. We know nothing is too hard for You. But God we stand here in our own power and in our own might, in our own ability. We don’t have any strength to stand against this mighty army. We don’t know what to do God. But our eyes are upon You.”

When you cannot see a solution… turn your eyes upon the Lord.

  • He is the omnipotent, all powerful Creator.
  • Focus your eyes upon Jehovah-Jireh, the Lord your Provider.
  • Think about El Shaddai, the God Who is more than enough.
  • He is Jehovah Rapha, the Lord your healer.

David said, “In the presence of my enemies you prepare a table for me. You anoint my head with oil and my cup runs over.”

You may be in the presence of a lot of things that want to destroy you. It may look like you are about to be destroyed. When you are sitting at the Lord’s table, the enemy loses his ability to steal, kill and destroy.

  • Psalms 34:18 says, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers us out of them all.”
  • Isaiah said, You will “go before me and make the crooked places straight and the rough places smooth.”
  • Deuteronomy said, “You will defeat my enemies. When they come against me one way, You will cause them to flee seven different ways.”
  • Romans and Corinthians says, I am “more than a conqueror” and “You always cause me to triumph.”

God did not say that trouble will not come or that you will not have to face these things.

When you are surrounded by trouble and don’t see how to make it through, you need to sit down at the Lord’s table. In His presence is fullness of joy, and at His right hand are pleasures forevermore, (Psalms 16:11).

Build up your confidence in the God Who does not fail.

God will meet you at your point of need. Focus your attention on God’s awesome greatness. Think about the times God has helped you. Think about the times God made a way for you. David said, “At God’s table, his head was anointed with oil and his cup runs over.”

Psalms 121:1 ”I will lift up my eyes to the hills – Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord , the Maker of heaven and earth.”

Jehoshaphat was surrounded by armies.

He said, “God, we don’t know what to do, but our eyes are upon you.” When they started looking up to God in heaven, something supernatural happened. God supernaturally moved in.  The Bible says, “The spirit of the Lord came upon Jehaziel and he began to prophesy.”

2 Chronicles 20:15 NLT  He said, “Listen, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Listen, King Jehoshaphat! This is what the Lord says: Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.”

Proverbs 21:31 “Go ahead and prepare for conflict, but victory comes from our God.”

God knows what He is doing in your time of difficulty.

Let God be God. When we don’t understand Him, we must learn to trust Him and be obedient to Him. Just go out and take your position, stand still, and see the deliverance of the Lord.  He said, “Fear not, be not dismayed, for when you go down into that battle tomorrow morning, I’m going to be right there in the midst of you.”

Jehoshaphat demonstrated unshakable confidence in God.

He put the singers and the musicians out in front of his army. With every step they shouted loudly, “The Lord is good and His mercy endures forever.” “The Lord is good and His mercy endures forever!” With every step they gained more confidence. Verse 22 says,“When they began to sing and shout the praises of God, the Lord caused their enemies to get confused and begin to fight among themselves.”

God brought such confusion into the enemy’s camp that they destroyed one another.

Our God is an awesome God! He told the people to gather up the spoils. There was so much cattle, money, clothing, and jewelry that it took three days to haul it off. David said, “My cup runs over…”

Hold on to your unshakable confidence in God.

Keep your eyes on the Most High God and He will always bring you through with victory.
