Many of the miracles, healings, signs and wonders that were done in the Bible were humanly impossible. These things were done to demonstrate that God is God. This is true from the things that were somewhat simple to the most complex supernatural events. I am not sure how difficult it would be to turn water into wine or to cause oil to multiply and fill every vessel in a widow’s house. The same supernatural power was necessary to make a way through the Red Sea for Israel to cross on dry ground. Thumb through your Bible and you will find an amazing number of miracles, healings, supernatural signs and wonders. Can you imagine what had to happen for Sodom and Gomorrah to be destroyed, or the walls of Jericho to fall down flat? Some of God’s power was witnessed to supply food for the multitudes and heal the sick. God demonstrated His power in so many wonderful ways.
You may be in what appears to be an impossible situation right now.
Are you going through a time when finances are tight? Has sickness or pain taken hold of your life? Have you been overwhelmed with difficulties and the tests of life have taken a toll? Sometimes these things make us weary and we just cannot see a way out.
It seems impossible.
A rich young ruler asked Jesus what he needed to do to inherit eternal life.
Luke 18:24-25 NIV Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God! Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
Many people believed that wealth was evidence of God’s blessing and acceptance. Jesus’ answer shocked the rich young ruler because it indicated that it was impossible for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.
That is impossible!
Luke 18:26-27 NIV Those who heard this asked, “Who then can be saved?” Jesus replied, “What is impossible with men is possible with God.”
Who can be saved?
Jesus’ reply indicates that salvation is impossible unless God takes action. If anyone is saved, it is by grace through faith and not of works. It is a gift of God.
Mark 10:27 NKJV “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”
This is not saying some people are more difficult to save than others. It would be easy to jump to that conclusion. You have tried to get them to change, but it is impossible. Maybe you have talked to them about God. You have tried to help them break free from the power of sin. You have given all the encouragement you can, but nothing seems to work. It sounds like this verse was written for them.
“With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”
The truth of the matter is, salvation is a wonder and miracle of God. God is able to save the chiefest of sinner and He is able to save you.
Have you faced an impossible situation in your body or life? Have you felt that it was impossible for things to change?
Sometimes we just cannot see a way for change to happen. Consider these people that Jesus did the impossible for.
One Sabbath Jesus was teaching in a synagogue.
Luke 13:11 NET And a woman was there who had been disabled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten herself up completely.
Can you imagine what it would be like to be bent over and unable to stand up straight?
This woman had been like that for 18 years. In that amount of time, the muscles and tendons get stuck in that position. Her situation appeared to be impossible in several ways. Physically she was bent over and could not straighten up. Spiritually she was disabled by an evil spirit. Sometimes this happens. Many people have physical and spiritual issues in life that are impossible with man.
Everything with this woman seemed to be impossible.
The one thing that gave this woman hope was Jesus was in the house. It does not matter how long she had been in that condition.
What is impossible with man is possible with God.
Luke 13:13 NKJV And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
In John 9, Jesus was walking along a road when He saw a man who was born blind.
Everyone was wanting to find a reason for his condition. Some accused his parents of being sinners and others said the man must have sinned. No one who had been born blind had ever been healed. This is impossible with man. There is no way to make the optic nerve start working. He had never seen the light of day.
John 9:6-7 Jesus spat on the ground and made mud and spread it over the man’s eyes… when the man washed in the pool of Siloam… he came back seeing.
What is impossible with man is possible with God.
In Acts 3:2, Peter and John were going to the temple and met a man who was lame from birth.
When I was a child I saw a man like this in Austin, Texas. My family was going to a Woolworth’s 5¢ & 10¢ store. I saw him rolling down the sidewalk on a piece of plywood that had roller-skate wheels on the bottom. His legs were so small they were folded around his frail body. His tin cup was in his lap to collect what people would give.
Peter and John saw a man who was lame from birth. Everyday someone carried him to the Temple to beg for money.
His muscles, nerves, legs and feet did not work as they should. He could not take care of himself and had never been able to stand on his feet.
With man this is impossible.
Acts 3:6 NKJV Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”
What is impossible with man is possible with God.
In Luke 8, Jesus just crossed the Sea of Galilee and was met by a homeless and naked man who had been living in the tombs.
The man had a legion of demons and his spiritual condition seemed hopeless. This was more evil in one place than we want to think of. Everyone in town had attempted to bind the man with chains and shackles, but could not tame him.
This is impossible with man.
As soon as Jesus stepped out of the boat, the man with the legion of demons recognized Jesus. The demons knew that nothing is impossible with God.
At Jesus’ word, the demons fled and the man was healed and in his right mind.
Life is full of impossibilities.
You may be facing a situation that presents no solution. Of all of the impossible situations that we may face, nothing is as impossible as sin. What can we do? The Bible tells us that we cannot conquer sin on our own. With man it is impossible, but with God, even the greatest sinner can be set free.
In each of these situations, there was a solution.
God sent Jesus Christ to seek and save the lost.
- Jesus has become our Redeemer and Deliverer.
- He is the way out of your hopeless and helpless situation.
- He is the Healer and the Deliverer.
- He is the Way Maker.
- He is the Divine Supply for all your need.
Jesus was in the synagogue on the Sabbath and read from the Scriptures.
Luke 4:18-19 NLT The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for He has anointed Me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.
What does that mean for you today?
Matthew 19:26 NIV “With God all things are possible.”
We are serving a God of infinite possibilities.
He is limitless in power and has vast resources that cannot be depleted. There is no end to His wisdom and knowledge. His grace and mercy are boundless and abundant.
Your situation cannot dictate what God can do.
God can interrupt what has been going on in your life. He can turn your life around. Matthew 19:26 refers to that Divine interruption.
Whatever your impossibility has been, “with God all things are possible.”
Are spiritual forces attacking you and keeping you down?
“With God all things are possible.”
- Is your health failing?
- Have you been in chronic pain?
- Has the situation not improved?
- Have doubts and fears been attacking your mind?
God is greater than all your problems.
With man it may be impossible but with God things are about to change.
One of the hardest parts for us to grasp is the “all things” statement.
Can you believe that God can work in your life? Is He able to do “all things” in your life? Can you accept the face that, “With God all things” are possible?
- She was bent over and could not straighten up.
- He was blind from birth.
- He was lame from birth.
- A mob of demons had taken charge of his body and soul.
- The bondage of that sin was too great to break.
Too often people are limited by their history.
They just can’t see that God could work it out. They have learned to live with those things in their lives.
Jesus said: “With God all things are possible.”
Other people said you cannot get away from it. Jesus said: “All things.”
God is ready to interrupt situations in your life.
Are you ready for a divine interruption? What would that look like? What would happen if God intervened right now? We should get ready for God. The Lord is ready to do something great in your life!
