The Blood

God has provided three powerful forces to turn things around so you will overcome: the blood, cross, and name of Jesus. Each of these are important forces, but when we come up against the adversary, God has provided all that we need to overcome. We must learn and understand their value, meaning, and how they relate to our spiritual victory.

The blood of Jesus Christ specifically and primarily concerns cleansing and redemption unto life eternal. The blood of Christ is the power against sin and Satan’s legal ground.

Romans 8:21 NKJV Creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

Since the sin and fall of man, Satan has had legal ground or right to do the things that he does. The Word of God tells us that the whole race and all of creation is now in bondage to the Devil. As soon as you turn your life to the Lord Jesus, you discover how deep that bondage to sin and Satan has been. The power and the authority of Satan rests upon our continued sinful condition. Where there is sin, Satan has legal grounds to hold us captive and in chains.

Here is the problem according to God.

Romans 3:10  There is none righteous, no, not one.

Romans 3:23  For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

The blood of Christ turns things around in our lives. Christ’s blood relates to sin and Satan’s legal ground. By sin, everyone is under condemnation and death. The petition of the sinner is to the blood of the Lord Jesus.

Hebrews 9:22 tells us, “Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins.”

The only way to break the chains of sin and bondage to the Devil is through the blood of Jesus Christ.

The only thing that can set people free is the blood of Jesus Christ.

They shall never get to God without the blood of Christ. We may struggle to break through or to break away, but we cannot without God’s help.

Only the blood of Jesus Christ can deliver us from the kingdom of Satan.

Here is the good news of the Gospel. Jesus blood can set the vilest sinner free.

Not only is there power to deliver from the bondage of sin and Satan, the blood of Christ gives us access to God.

We are redeemed to God by the precious blood of Jesus. Nothing else can ever save our soul.

The believer’s conflict with the accuser of their soul requires the blood of Jesus Christ.

In the past, Satan was master and lord of every sinner. Satan wants to bring everyone back into captivity.  To keep you in captivity, Satan must bring you back to the ground that has already been conquered by the blood of Jesus. This is why he roams about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. Each of us has felt his work striving, tempting, and provoking us into sin. He wants to draw you back into things that God has broken off your life. He wants to smother you with condemnation. He wants you to feel that God has forsaken you. He wants you to feel out of fellowship with God. He wants you to feel that there is no hope.

Revelation 12:10 NKJV “For the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.”

You need the precious blood of the Lord Jesus to stand against the enemy.

If you fall, don’t allow Satan to tell you that there is no hope. The only way to deal with this is through the blood of the Lord Jesus. Your weapon against sin and Satan is in the precious blood of Jesus.

You must use your weapon, the blood of Christ.

You must have faith in the power of the blood of Jesus Christ. The precious blood of the Lord Jesus is our shield. No fiery darts of the wicked one can get through the blood of Jesus.

The initial victory you have gained over the enemy is now maintained by faith in the blood of Jesus.

Revelation 12:10-11 NKJV “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

You must have more faith in Christ and the power of His blood than you have in your own ability.

You can defeat the enemy with the blood of Jesus.

Notice two things in Revelation 12:10-11.

First, the enemy is the accuser: “The accuser is cast down.” Second, “They overcame and triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb.”  How did they conquer him by the blood of Jesus? They stood upon the ground and authority of that blood of Jesus and the accuser lost his power. The enemy wants to pull you out from that blood covering, and thereby defeat and destroy you.

Keep standing on the precious blood of Jesus Christ and refuse to forsake that ground.

When you do, the accuser is cast down and overcome. You can stand against every attack of the accuser by the blood of Christ.

“They overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb.”

The Cross

Romans 6:7–8 NKJV For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him.

Colossians 2:14-15 NKJV Having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.

It was in and by the cross that the blood was shed.

The blood of Christ is related to the cross and the cross is related to the blood. Victory over sin cannot be gained without the blood being spilled and the blood cannot be spilled without the cross being endured. The cross deals with our old nature. We have been dealt with. All of the works of the flesh are involved here.

We have been crucified together with Christ.

Everything that is powerful in our life is dealt with in the cross. Anything that can bring us down and destroy us is dealt with in the cross. All failures, breakdowns and times of going wrong are dealt with in the cross. There is victory over your inconsistencies in the cross.

Galatians 2:20 NKJV I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

We must fully accept that and all it means and implies.

When we come to the cross, everything changes from that time onward.

“I have been crucified with Christ nevertheless I live; yet not I but Christ lives in me.”

Living the crucified life is a life of victory.

We no longer make our own program and schedule. Now it is Christ who lives in me. We are dependent on Him for our very life. Being crucified with Christ means that we have come to accept Him as our Lord and Life. In Christ’s crucifixion, we were crucified. In His burial, we were buried. In His resurrection, we were raised together with Him. Now, the Holy Spirit has come into our lives to govern and direct our lives.

It is “No longer I who lives, it is Christ who lives in me.”

The cross gives us power to live a life of victory through Christ.

If we have not come to the cross and crucified the flesh, we can talk about the power of the blood and be ineffective.

Many claim the power of the blood, and yet their flesh is uncontrollable. You can talk about the blood and still be filled with pride, arrogance, ambition and such.

The cross deals with the flesh; the blood with the sin.

The Name Of Jesus

Many people plead the blood when they ought to use the name of Jesus.

Matthew 28:18 NKJV And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.”

The name of Jesus is the mighty weapon against the enemy for the believer. The name of Jesus goes beyond the blood. The name of Jesus has to do with the authority of Christ.

John 14:14 “If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.”

The blood takes the enemy’s ground away for accusation and condemnation.

We are washed and made clean in the blood of Christ and Satan has no room for accusation or condemnation.

The name of the Lord Jesus deals with every realm of Satan’s authority.

You can take action in the authority of the name of Jesus. When you come against principalities, powers and the rulers of the darkness of this world, you need His authority. You need to be in a position of authority over the enemy.

Power is found in the name of Jesus.

The name of Jesus represents all of Christ’s authority. In Christ Jesus, we have authority over the enemy.

There is three-fold strength, power and position by the cross, the blood, and the name of Jesus.

When you need a turn around in your life and overcoming victory, you need to know that the blood of Christ has already been applied. You need to know that you have been crucified with Christ and that He is living in you. You need to take authority and use the Name of Jesus.

  • The blood defeats the power of sin.
  • The cross conquers our flesh.
  • The name of Jesus brings us into union with an exalted, enthroned, authoritative Lord.
