In varying degrees, we all have discovered some of the limitless riches of Christ. As we consider the vast riches of Christ, we must come to know that God is extravagant toward us for a purpose. Although He has prepared for us the limitless riches of Christ, God does not waste what He has made available. He freely gives us all things to achieve the end of His purpose in us. We should recognize this in every good and perfect gift that comes down to us from God above. Nothing you receive from His boundless grace, mercy, wisdom and love is wasted, but always accomplishes God’s purpose.
Isaiah 55:11 NKJV So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
Think about this in relation to the limitless riches of Christ. To help us understand the extravagance of the limitless riches of Christ, look at the richness of these things.
- He is rich in forgiveness, 1 John 1:9 NKJV If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
- In Romans 2:4 God’s rich goodness, forbearance, and long-suffering leads us to repentance.
- In Romans 9:23, God makes known the riches of His glory on vessels of mercy, that He has prepared for glory.
- In Philippians 4:19, My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
- Romans 11:33 tells us the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God are unsearchable and His ways past finding out!
- The unending exceeding riches of His grace is shown through the blood of Christ and His kindness toward us, Ephesians 1:7; 2:7.
- In Colossians 2:2, God has prepared all of the riches of complete understanding so that we may fully know Christ.
- Ephesians 2:4, Because of His great love for us, God who is rich in mercy has made us alive with Christ.
As we consider the unending, boundless, fathomless, and exhaustless riches of Christ, we will come to know that we have not exhausted everything that has been appropriated for us.
1 Corinthians 2:9-10 NKJV But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
Consider what God has prepared for those who love Him.
We could never exhaust or take hold of all of the limitless riches of Christ. You should never think that you have exhausted His mercy, grace, or love. What you have experienced is more than sufficient for the need that you have. His riches are many sided and greater than all our need.
Philippians 4:19 NKJV And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Although our need is represented and revealed by our manifold trials, tests, afflictions, troubles, and distresses, God’s source of supply for us is in His riches in heaven by Christ Jesus. You need to keep reminding yourself what God has provided so that His plan for you will be accomplished.
Jeremiah 29:11-14 NLT For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you,” says the Lord.
As we dig into God’s Word, we gain an understanding of God’s great plan and purpose for our lives. Keep a strong hold on what God has provided for you. Regardless of what comes or goes, God is rich enough in everything that is necessary to fulfill His plan.
Philippians 3:12 NKJV Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.
Hold on to these key phrases. Keep pressing to “lay hold” of everything “Jesus has provided when He claimed me as His own.”
Philippians 3:13-14 NKJV Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
There is a reason for Christ’s limitless riches.
God has been extravagant with His grace, mercy and love for a reason. He is drawing us into the glorious liberty of sons of God. He has a particular plan for each of us. These verses in Philippians 3:13-14 refer back to what was said in verses 7-11.
Philippians 3:7-11 NKJV But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
Do you see the plan that God has for you?
God wants you to be found in Christ and established in His righteousness. In Christ, you will know the power of His resurrection and enjoy the fellowship of His sufferings. In this fellowship, we are not diverted or destroyed, but we are made more than conquerors in Christ. In Christ, we are conformed to the victory of His death. In Christ, we will attain to the ultimate victory of the resurrection from the dead.
Consider the limitless riches of Christ that are expended for you.
Ephesians 2:4-7 NKJV But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
God has prepared the limitless riches of Christ for you.
God loves you so much that He has extravagantly expended grace, mercy and love at Christ’s expense. Through His limitless riches, Christ has made it possible for you to sit together with Him in heavenly places. God knew that you could not afford the price that was necessary to achieve His glorious plan for you. God has made it possible for you to be His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus. The limitless riches of Christ have been provided so that you can enjoy the glorious liberties that are in Christ.
Listen to the Holy Spirit tell you to take hold of this.
He is encouraging you to press on in to claim everything that God has prepared for you.
