Of all the things that God has given us, the gift of His Son is the greatest gift. By the gift of God’s Son, the rich mercy and grace of God is demonstrated toward us. By Jesus Christ God’s Son, we are raised and made to sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
We are taking a look at the limitless riches of Christ.
Colossians 1:19-20 NKJV For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.
Through the Lord Jesus Christ, God has determined to give us all things. Pay attention to that word “fullness.” It gives a clue to the richness that is in Christ. In Christ, all the fullness dwells. The width, length, depth, and height of the fullness of God is manifest in Christ.
Romans 8:32 AMP He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things?
Notice the fullness of the gift that God has given us.
He does not measure His gracious mercy by the multitude of things that He does for us. The measure of His gracious mercy is known by God the Father giving us His own Son.
Herein lies one of our greatest blessings and problems.
When we face adversity, sicknesses, afflictions and tests, our accuser draws our attention toward the things that are wrong in our lives. When the accuser begins attacking, many people begin questioning: “What has gone wrong?” “What have I done?” Your accuser wants to draw your attention away from the sufficiency of Christ to your faults, failures, or demerit. He wants you to focus on your past. He wants you to see your weaknesses. Your accuser wants you to focus on your unworthiness. Have you asked God: “What’s wrong?” “Why me?” “Why this?” “What’s wrong with me?”
Satan’s goal is to turn you aside from the limitless riches of grace and mercy that are in Christ.
We need to keep our eyes focused on Christ. This is where our faith finds completion and fulfillment. We can easily lose sight of the riches of Christ when we focus on our weaknesses and what is wrong.
What have we been given in Christ?
We need to grasp the unsearchable riches of His grace and mercy that are completed and ready for us to inherit.
A perfect example of our inheritance in Christ is seen in God’s provision for the descendants of Abraham.
Way back when Abram was in Mesopotamia in the city of Haran, God gave him a secure promise. When God spoke to Abram, He spoke of a certainty that had not been seen but was prepared.
Genesis 12:1-3 NKJV Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
The scope of God’s blessing was greater than Abram could measure, but he believed God and left his homeland. He looked for the place that God had prepared.
Later, God told Moses and Abraham’s descendants that He would give them the land.
Deuteronomy 11:22-25 NKJV “For if you carefully keep all these commandments which I command you to do—to love the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, and to hold fast to Him— then the Lord will drive out all these nations from before you, and you will dispossess greater and mightier nations than yourselves. Every place on which the sole of your foot treads shall be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the River Euphrates, even to the Western Sea, shall be your territory. No man shall be able to stand against you; the Lord your God will put the dread of you and the fear of you upon all the land where you tread, just as He has said to you.
God’s blessing was secured for His people.
The full provision was ready for them when they were able to enter and receive it. Although there were battles and great and mighty nations to conquer, God’s promise was certain.
What happened in Israel is an example of what will happen in our lives.
We are going to have battles against the adversary of our souls, but God has secured our inheritance in Christ.
In God’s mind, the land of Israel’s inheritance was already prepared and ready for His people. God said, “no enemy will be able to stand against you,” and “every place that the soul of your foot shall tread upon, I have given you.”
The limitless riches of God’s grace and mercy are secured and certain for us in Christ.
Consider the limitless benefits that are in Christ.
We usually think about grace to save, forgive, and atone. We do not want to forget that He heals all our diseases. We depend on His keeping power that shields us from destruction. We feast on the bounty of His daily blessing and provision. We rejoice in the bounty of His limitless grace and mercy. We depend on the rich benefit that we gain from Christ. Through Him every physical and spiritual blessing has been provided for us.
Ephesians 1:3-6 NKJV Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.
Of all the benefits that are prepared for us in Christ Jesus, the greatest of these is Christ Himself.
Not only has God prepared the bounty of His benefits, He has prepared Christ for us and us for Christ. By Christ, all things are prepared for us.
Romans 8:32 NKJV He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
John 3:16 NKJV For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Eternal and abundant life is in the Son.
The deficit, demerit, and failure in our life is removed in Christ.
1 John 5:11-12 NKJV And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
We are made complete in Christ.
Colossians 2:9–10 NASB95 For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule (principality) and authority (power).
The word fullness comes from the Greek word: play·ro·mah. Fullness indicates that nothing is lacking.
Complete can only be achieved from fullness. This word complete comes from the Greek word: playro’o. Complete is to make full, literally to cram, to fill to the top so that nothing is lacking, to make complete in every detail, to make or furnish perfectly, satisfy, finish, come to an end, fully and completely supply. Completeness refers to everything that has been achieved for us and given to us in Christ Jesus.
Colossians 2:9–10 NASB95 For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form, and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule (principality) and authority (power).
This is the bounty of the richness of Christ.
In Christ, we are made complete. We are in Him… in Christ. This is the doctrine of our union with Christ.
The Church is united with Christ.
Christ is our Groom…we are His bride. He is the Vine… we are the branch. He is the Head…we are the body. He is the Foundation we are built upon.
With everything that concerns our spiritual welfare, we are complete in Him.
No other sacrifice is necessary. His blood provides our full atonement and covering. No additional ceremony, sacrifice, or service is necessary.
There is enough (fullness) in Christ.

In Christ, we are fully satisfied.
Philippians 3:8-9 NKJV Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ
