Limitless Riches of Christ — His work in us

We have been looking into the limitless riches that God has made available for us in Christ. He has given us vast amounts of grace, inexpressible joy, full glory, and boundless love. The depth of riches that are available in Christ are beyond our ability to exhaust or comprehend. We are blessed by His great goodness.

Colossians 1:19-20 NKJV For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.

In showing us the limitless riches that are available in Christ, the Father was pleased that all fullnessshould dwell in Him. The word fullness comes from the Greek word play·ro·mah that means, nothing is lacking. Every blessing, grace, mercy and spiritual fullness comes from this bounty of fullness that is in Christ. All of the power, glory, and riches of God fully dwells in Him. When considering Christ’s ministry to believers, nothing that is needed to supply our need is lacking. We have been made partakers of that fullness and limitless richness that dwells in Him.

Ephesians 1:3-6 NKJV Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

By investing every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, God has abundantly prepared the bounty of His benefits, for us in Christ.

As a result, we are made complete in Christ. Consider the limitless riches that God has prepared for us in Christ.

Colossians 2:9-10 NKJV For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

The satisfaction of our need can only be supplied from the fullness that is in Christ. “Completeness” in us can only be achieved from His fullness. This word complete comes from the Greek word, playro’o. The word is very similar to the word fullness. Complete means to make full, literally to cram, to fill to the top so that nothing is lacking, to make complete in every detail, to make or furnish perfectly, satisfy, finish, come to an end, fully and completely supply. Complete carries the ideas of our sanctification, Holy Spirit baptism and fulness, and glorification. Whatever is lacking in us is supplied in Christ. Everything that God has prepared for those who love Him has been achieved and given to us in Christ Jesus.

Colossians 2:9-10 NKJV For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

The generosity of God’s blessings are summed up in Christ. When we are united with Christ by faith and fellowship, we become partakers of His blessing and heritage. Through Him we are made children and heirs of God, and joint heirs with Jesus Christ. In Christ, we are made complete. Through Christ, “My God shall supply all your need.”

In Ephesians 1, the Apostle Paul was praying for the church. He wanted believers to understand the riches of glory that God has prepared for us.

Ephesians 1:17-22 NKJV that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church,

The terms in this text help us see how the limitless riches of Christ impact believers. Christ’s greatness, power, inheritance and ascended position are revealed, then we are shown the impact of His limitless riches.

Ephesians 2:10 NKJV For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

“Workmanship” shows the finished product of His greatness and power. When a worker finishes their labor on a special product, they want it to reflect the expertise of their craft. We are His workmanship.

In Christ, we are fully supplied.

  • The believer is fully furnished in Him.
  • There is no condemnation for we are justified freely by grace.
  • In Christ, we have life eternal and we are free from the law of sin and death.
  • In Christ, we have fellowship and access.
  • We are approved and sanctified.
  • In Christ, we have hope.
  • His grace is sufficient for all our sin and need.
  • His rod and His staff keep us and we are strengthened and increased.
  • In Christ, we have fullness of joy that gives strength.
  • In Christ, we are made acceptable and approved by the Father and anointed and appointed by the Holy Spirit.
  • Every gift and grace that is required is supplied.

John 1:14 NKJV And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 1:16 NKJV And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.

After Christ was revealed and manifested His glory among us, we were made partakers of His limitless riches. Consider the depth of what God has made available when Christ was given for us. We have been brought into the evident reality of His glory, grace and truth.  For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form. We are made to partake of the undeniable fullness of the riches of God’s glory, grace and truth. It reminds me of the time when the seventy elders accompanied Moses up Sinai and they saw God and ate and drank in His presence. Even greater than that, we have been made partakers of Christ. Consider this fact that “of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.”

Colossians 2:9-10 NKJV For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

The full satisfaction of our need is directly connected to His fullness and ability to make us complete in Him. The implications of this reach past this present life. The limitless riches of Christ go beyond the resurrection of the believer. The limitless riches of Christ extend into the eternal inheritance and vast supply that is provided in Christ. We have been made heirs and joint heirs with Christ. We have been brought into the vast power and bounty of His glory, power, and dominion.

Consider that last phrase: “Who is the head of all principality and power.” Do not take the fact lightly that He is Lord of hosts and King of kings. Every principality and power must come and kneel before Him and declare that He is Lord.

Philippians 2:9-11 NKJV Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

You may find it amazing that God has prepared glory for us.

Romans 8:18-19 NKJV For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God.

Whatever you are living through right now cannot be compared to the “glory which shall be revealed in us!”

1 Corinthians 2:9-10 NKJV But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

Only the Holy Spirit can adequately reveal the things God has prepared for those who love Him. The Holy Spirit keeps telling the beloved of the Lord, “I have treasures stored up for you.”

Jesus indicated this in John 14.

John 14:2-4 NKJV In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

Consider for a moment the multiplied millions of the redeemed of the Lord who will enjoy the limitless riches of Christ throughout eternity. He will not run out of blessing. Eternity is full of the blessing of the Lord.
