Jeremiah 1:12 NKJV Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word.”
Everyone needs to hear this word from God. God is watching over everything that He has said and He is ready to perform His word. This covers every promise and prophecy. God is watching over His word and is ready to make it happen.
For that reason you need to pay attention to the things that God has said.
From God’s inspired Word we gain confidence and faith that God will do what He said He would do. It will boost your faith when you begin to see what God has done for those to whom He has made promises. Solomon reminded us of God’s faithfulness. He stood before the altar of the Lord at the newly constructed temple and spoke to the whole assembly of Israel.
1 Kings 8:56 NKJV Blessed be the Lord, who has given rest to His people Israel, according to all that He promised. There has not failed one word of all His good promise, which He promised through His servant Moses.
Some of the promises of God are not fulfilled as soon as God speaks the word, but not one word of all His good promises will ever fail.
He told Noah there was going to be a flood and that he should build an ark for the saving of his family.
Noah labored long before there was a cloud in the sky and the rain began to fall. He faced all kinds of ridicule and scorn as he built an ark on dry ground. It did not rain until God told Noah to gather his family and go into the ark.
God told Abraham that He would bless him and his offspring before Abraham and Sarah had a child.
They did not receive the promised son until they were past the time it was normal for Sarah to have a child.
Romans 4:19-21 NKJV And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.
Abraham was fully convinced that God was able to perform what He promised.
These kinds of divine interventions are not unique to Noah and Abraham. Watch God work for His people throughout the Bible.
Whatever God has said, He will make it happen!
He was faithful to His promise about Isaac.
Even when Isaac was tied up on that altar and Abraham was ready to offer him as a sacrifice, God was faithful. Abraham believed that God would do whatever it would take to fulfill His promise. He concluded that God was able to raise Isaac up from the dead in order to fulfill His Word. Have you considered the faith of Isaac? God is faithful to His promise.
When God told Moses to go into Egypt and bring His people out, God did many signs, wonders, and miracles to fulfill His promise.
Nothing that Pharaoh or the Egyptians could do was able to stop God from bringing His people out. God demonstrated His determined will when they came to the Red Sea and there appeared to be no escape. God was not diminished by the impossibilities that lay before them. God made a way where there was no way and the multitude of Israel crossed over on dry ground, but the Egyptians perished in the sea.
When Joshua was near Jericho, the Commander of the Lord’s army showed up.
Jericho was securely shut up and it appeared that nothing could be done, but the Lord said: “See! I have given Jericho into your hand.” Think about that for a moment. The walls are still standing tall and wide while Israel walks around and around for seven days. This is one of those dramatic answers when God took extra-ordinary steps to do what He said He would do. The walls of Jericho fell down flat after Joshua and Israel encircled the city the seventh time on the seventh day.
David was not stopped by a giant who defied the armies of Israel.
Goliath must have been a terrible sight at nine feet and nine inches tall. When David saw him, he was filled with faith that the God Who delivered him from the lion and the bear was able to deliver him from the hand of the Philistine. That mighty Goliath did fall and God brought victory to His people.
Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego were confident that God could deliver them from the lion and the fire.
No lion or fire could destroy what God had blessed.
It is important for us to know the nature and character of the God that we serve.
- Our God is Faithful — whatever He has promised He will do.
- Our God is Mighty — there is nothing that you can face that is greater than Him.
- Our God is Able — He can do anything.
- He is Reliable — He always helps in times of need.
- He never fails.
- He is Righteous, Good, and Kind.
- The Lord is Merciful and Loving.
In Luke 18, Jesus spoke a parable about a widow woman that needed justice from an adversary.
She came to an unjust judge who did not fear God or man. Although she came continually, it was apparent that she was getting no help. The unjust judge did not respect or regard her or her plea for help. Jesus said, she kept on coming continually until the unjust judge avenged her of her adversary. Jesus started this parable by telling His disciples that they should always pray and never give up.
In Luke 18:7, at the end of the parable Jesus said, “Shall not God avenge His own elect who cry out to Him day and night?”
After saying that Jesus said, “God will avenge His elect speedily.”
What does that mean? You may think that God has not heard your prayer. You may be facing a giant or a high wall. You may be down in the dungeon facing lions or you may be in the fiery furnace trial. God has not forsaken His people. Keep on calling out to Him.
“God will avenge His elect speedily.”
What does that mean for you? God still knows the way through the wilderness. He knows how to supply for your need when you are hungry and thirsty. He is stronger than any giant you are facing. He is bigger than any wall that is standing in your way. He is mightier than the armies of the enemy that are encamped around your home. He is able to divide the waters that hinder your progress.
“God will avenge His elect speedily.”
Don’t become weary while you are waiting in faith.
Galatians 6:9 tells us, “In due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”
Due season is upon some of you right now. This is the time that God has determined to do something great for you. You should prepare yourself in faith for something great from God. Hold on to your faith and trust in God and don’t lose heart.
One of the problems that some may have is with patiently waiting on the Lord.
Israel had to walk around Jericho seven days before the walls fell down flat. The widow woman had to go before her unjust judge continually.
Jesus said, “God will avenge you!”
You may be wondering “How long, oh Lord, must I wait?” In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, the fountains of the great deep were broken up and the windows of heaven were opened. You may be thinking, “I don’t have that long.”
Abraham and Sarah were past the time they thought it was possible for an answer to come, but Isaac showed up when God was ready.
The fact of the matter is this, God will take extra-ordinary steps to make His promises happen.
Don’t give up on God.
Isaac asked his father, “Here is the fire, and the wood, where is the lamb for the burnt offering?”
I love the faith that Abraham had in God. He never gave up on God. Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” That kind of faith sounds good when you are not all tied up and lying on the altar, upon the wood. The truth of the matter is, the Lord your God is Jehovah-Jireh, the God Who will provide. He is always on time and never fails.
I want to remind you that in each of these cases, God did extra-ordinary things to bless His people.
God wants you to receive His best. He has made it possible for that to happen in your life. If you need a miracle, God is a miracle-working God. If you need healing, you can be healed by the stripes on Jesus’ back. He is able to give you beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, (Isaiah 61:3). He will build up your desolations and raise you up in victory. In the glory of the Lord you will boast and rejoice in the goodness of our God.
God will make it happen, and hasten His word to perform it.
