Behold Your God — Nothing Impossible

Behold Your God — Nothing Impossible

Luke 18:27 NKJV But He said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”

All human beings are faced with personal limitations and frailties. Many of the miracles, healings, signs and wonders that are seen in the Bible were humanly impossible. The Lord our God freely works in power in the realm of things that are impossible with man. These things are done to demonstrate that He is God.

This is true from the things that seemed somewhat simple to the most complex supernatural events. I am not sure how difficult it would be to turn water into wine or to cause oil to multiply and fill every vessel in a widow’s house. It is the same supernatural power that was necessary to make a way through the Red Sea for Israel to cross on dry ground. Thumb through your Bible and you will find an amazing number of miracles, healings, supernatural signs and wonders. Can you imagine what had to happen for Sodom and Gomorrah to be destroyed, or for the walls of Jericho to fall down flat? Some of God’s power was witnessed to supply food for the multitudes from a few fish and loaves of bread and heal their sick. God has demonstrated His power in so many wonderful ways. We often face situations and circumstances that appear to be impossible. We need to learn this and never forget that God is not limited by our situations or abilities.

Scan through your Bible and you will see many seemingly impossible situations that God solved.

God made promises to Abram and Sarai that appeared to be beyond the scope of possibility.

God told them He would make them a great nation and make their name great. Before the promise began to unfold, Abram and Sarai were advanced in age and Sarai had passed the age of childbearing, (Genesis 18:11). It was after their natural abilities had passed that the Lord asked Abraham, “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” (Genesis 18:14). The Lord told them that He would return at the appointed time and Sarah would have a son. Both Sarah in the Old Testament and Elizabeth in the New Testament were given a son in their old age. Mary asked the angel of the Lord, “How can I have a child, since I do not know a man?” (Luke 1:34). The angel of the Lord told Mary, “With God nothing will be impossible,” (Luke 1:37).

When God was bringing Israel out of Egypt, they came to the Red Sea, (Exodus 15)

Everyone thought they were going to die by the hands of the Egyptian armies. Nothing is impossible with God. God was not only able to make a way where there was no way, He also destroyed Pharaoh’s chariots and his army in the Red Sea.

The Israelites were in the wilderness and they were hungry for some meat.

Moses told God there are six hundred thousand men on foot; yet You have said, “I will give them meat, that they may eat for a whole month.” (Numbers 11:21) Do you have any idea how much meat it would take to satisfy six hundred thousand men plus the women and children? Moses asked God, “Shall all of the flocks and herds be slaughtered for them? Or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to provide enough for them?” (Numbers 11:22)

Numbers 11:23 NIV84 The Lord answered Moses, “Is the Lord’s arm too short? You will now see whether or not what I say will come true for you.”

Numbers 11:31 tells us that the Lord sent a wind from the sea and it brought quail that were fluttering all around the camp about three feet above the ground. Have you ever seen a wind bring in quail?

Job had lost everything.

His health and wealth were gone. All his children had died in one day. His wife and friends had turned against him.

Job 42:2 NKJV “I know that You can do everything, And that no purpose of Yours can be withheld from You.”

At the end of the trial of his faith, the Lord restored Job’s losses and gave him twice as much as he had before.

Isaiah reminded a backslidden people of God’s ability to save even when their sins had piled up before God and testified against them.

Isaiah 59:1 NKJV Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, That it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, That it cannot hear.

Later in that text, the Lord promised that a Redeemer would come to His people like a raging flood tide driven by the breath of the Lord, (vs.19-20).

Of all of the things that seem impossible, nothing seems more impossible than the creation.

Jeremiah 32:17 NKJV ‘Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You.

We have considered the absolute impossibility of making something from nothing. By God’s almighty power the heavens and earth were created.

Do you really believe that all things are possible with God?

We should not limit God to human impossibilities.

Luke 18:27 NKJV But He said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”

One Sabbath, Jesus was teaching in a synagogue.

Luke 13:11 NET And a woman was there who had been disabled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten herself up completely.

Can you imagine what it would be like to be bent over and be unable to stand up straight?

This woman had been like that for 18 years. In that amount of time, the muscles, tendons and skeletal structure get stuck in that position. Her situation appeared to be impossible in several ways. Physically she was bent over and could not straighten up. Spiritually she was disabled by an evil spirit. Sometimes this happens and people have physical and spiritual issues in life that are humanly impossible to solve. Everything with this woman seemed to be impossible. The one thing that gave her hope was Jesus was in the house. It does not matter how long she had been in that condition.

What is impossible with man is possible with God.

Luke 13:13 NKJV And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.

In John 9, Jesus was walking along a road when He saw a man who was born blind.

Everyone tried to find a reason for his condition. Some accused his parents of being sinners and others said the man must have sinned. Since no one who had been born blind had ever been healed this seemed to be a totally impossible condition. There is no way to make the optic nerve start working. He had never seen the light of day.

John 9:6-7 Jesus spat on the ground and made mud and spread it over the man’s eyes… when the man washed in the pool of Siloam… he came back seeing.

What is impossible with man is possible with God.

In Acts 3:2, Peter and John were going to the temple and met a man who was lame from birth.

When I was a child I saw a man like this in Austin, Texas. My family was going to a Woolworth’s 5¢ & 10¢ store. I saw him rolling down the sidewalk on a piece of plywood that had roller-skate wheels on the bottom. His legs were so small they were folded around his frail body. His tin cup was in his lap to collect what people would give.

Peter and John saw a man who was lame from birth. Everyday someone carried him to the Temple to beg for money. His muscles, nerves, legs and feet did not work as they should.  He could not take care of himself and had never been able to stand on his feet.

With man this is impossible.

Acts 3:6 NKJV Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”

What is impossible with man is possible with God.

In Luke 8, Jesus just crossed the Sea of Galilee and was met by a homeless and naked man who had been living in the tombs.

The man had a legion of demons and his spiritual condition seemed hopeless. A legion in the Roman army consisted of six thousand men. There was more evil in one place than we want to think of. Everyone in town had attempted to bind the man with chains and shackles, but they could not tame him.

This was an impossible situation.

As soon as Jesus stepped out of the boat, the man with the legion of demons recognized Jesus. The demons knew that nothing is impossible with God. At Jesus’ command, the demons fled and the man was healed and in his right mind.

Life is full of impossibilities.

Of all of the impossible situations that we may face, nothing is as impossible as sin.

What can we do? The Bible tells us that we cannot conquer sin on our own. With man it is impossible, but with God, even the greatest sinner can be set free.

In each of these situations, there was a solution.

God sent Jesus Christ to seek and save the lost.

Jesus has become our Redeemer and Deliverer. He is the way out of our hopeless and helpless situations. He is the Healer, Deliverer and Way Maker. He is the Divine Supply for all your needs.

Jesus was in the synagogue on the Sabbath and read from the Scriptures.

Luke 4:18-19 NLT The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for He has anointed Me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.

What does that mean for us today?

Matthew 19:26 NIV “With God all things are possible.”

We are serving a God of infinite possibilities. He is limitless in power and has vast resources at His disposal that cannot be depleted. There is no end to His wisdom and knowledge. His grace and mercy are boundless and abundant.

Your situation cannot dictate what God can do.

God can interrupt what has been going on in your life and turn your life around. Matthew 19:26 refers to that Divine interruption. Whatever your impossibility has been, “With God all things are possible.”

One of the hardest parts for us to grasp is the “all things” statement.

Can you believe that God can work and do “all things” in your life? Can you accept the fact that, “With God all things are possible”? They were too old to have a child. They were trapped with the enemy behind them when God opened up a way across the Red Sea. She was bent over and could not straighten up. He was blind from birth. He was lame from birth. A mob of demons had taken charge of his body and soul. The bondage of that sin was too great to break.

Too often people are limited by their history.

They just can’t see how God could work it out. They have learned to live with those things in their lives.

Jesus said: “With God all things are possible.”

Other people said you cannot get away from it. Jesus said: “All things are possible.”

God is ready and able to interrupt situations in your life.

Are you ready for a divine interruption? What would that look like? What would happen if God intervened right now? The Lord is ready to do something great in your life!

Exodus 15:11 NKJV “Who is like You, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like You, glorious in holiness, Fearful in praises, doing wonders?”

Isaiah 40:25-26 NKJV “To whom then will you liken Me, Or to whom shall I be equal?” says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high, And see who has created these things, Who brings out their host by number; He calls them all by name, By the greatness of His might And the strength of His power; Not one is missing.

Isaiah 40:28-29 NKJV Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.

Isaiah 45:5-7 NKJV I am the Lord, and there is no other; There is no God besides Me. I will gird you, though you have not known Me, That they may know from the rising of the sun to its setting That there is none besides Me. I am the Lord, and there is no other; I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create calamity; I, the Lord, do all these things.’

Romans 11:33-34 NKJV Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! “For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become His counselor?”

Romans 11:35-36 NKJV “Or who has first given to Him And it shall be repaid to him?” For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.
