A Present Help — Protect the Treasure

A Present Help — Protect the Treasure

There is a treasure in your church, home, family and in your own spirit and soul that must be preserved and protected. We know for certain that the enemy of our soul wants to steal, kill and destroy. We must stand up and refuse to allow the powers of darkness to steal what God has invested in us and has freely given. We must take the steps that are necessary to protect the treasure in our church and home. Your family, children, and grandchildren are a precious possession of a godly family. If you are going to protect and preserve your church, home, and family, you must take a stand and recognize the value of what God has given you. These are precious treasures that we must determine that we will never stand aside and allow the enemy to steal, kill or destroy. All of this begins by God saving our souls and giving us new life in Christ. God commanded His light to shine in our hearts so we can see Who Jesus really is. There is more to this than just recognizing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. When this light shines in our hearts, an amazing change is made in our body, mind, and heart. All of us who have had this happen know what it is like to be transformed by the power of the Spirit of God.

We must protect the treasure.

2 Corinthians 4:6 NKJV For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 4:7 NKJV But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.

We have this treasure in jars of clay that are weak and fragile. You can dress up that jar of clay any way you can but it is still a weak and fragile vessel. By having this treasure on the inside, we have been measurably changed and increased. Our value is increased because God has done something great inside of us. Consider the depth of the riches of God’s blessing and favor that has been invested in you.

2 Corinthians 2:14 NKJV Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.

2 Corinthians 2:15 NKJV For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.

What an amazing treasure that God has committed to us. This “aroma of Christ” is a testimony of a victorious life. Consider the significance of what God has invested in us. It is no wonder why the adversary and evil men want to destroy the church, your home and your family. They are coming after the testimony of Christ that is in you. If we are bearing the fragrance of Christ to this world and to God, everything that is evil wants to steal, kill, and destroy. Verse 16 of the text says, “Who is sufficient for these things?” We are jars of clay that are filled with heaven’s treasure.

How can we protect the treasure?

2 Corinthians 4:8-9 NKJV We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed—

2 Corinthians 4:10 NKJV always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.

How can we protect the treasure when we are hard-pressed on every side? How can we protect the treasure when we are perplexed, persecuted and struck down? All of the things that are coming against you are an attempt to get to the treasure that is in you. Satan does not want you to have a testimony of victory, power and life.

Here are some things you can do to protect the treasure.

You need to know that God has you covered and that the blood of Jesus Christ is powerful.

In your most intense times of trouble and tribulation when the accuser is relentless, you can overcome under the authority of the victory of Christ’s cross and by His blood.

Revelation 12:11 NKJV And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony…

There is power in the blood of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God. When you were saved and when the Holy Spirit took up residence inside of you, God made a claim on your body, mind, and spirit. God’s Word teaches us that we belong to Him. We were bought with the precious blood of Jesus. You need to know that you are made clean by the blood of Christ. You need to know that the Father claims you as His. Now are we children of God.

You can protect the treasure by being clothed in the whole armor of God.

Ephesians 6:10 NKJV Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God…

  • Cover yourself with the truth of God’s Word.
  • Put on the breastplate of Christ’s righteousness.
  • Hold on to the peace of God that keeps your heart and mind. Make peace a priority. In Song of Solomon 3:7-8, all of Solomon’s valiant men had their swords on their thigh because of fear in the night. God blessed Solomon with 666 talents of gold each year.  A talent is 75 pounds. That means he was receiving 25 tons of gold a year for the 35 years of his life. At $1,500 an ounce that would be $1.6 billion of gold every year. Fear had crept in because Solomon had taken 700 wives and 300 concubines who were worshiping other gods, practicing witchcraft and worshipping satan. Solomon was being pulled into the religions of his wives. Although God had blessed him, Solomon and his men were filled with fear in the night. God has not given you a spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind. God’s gift brings peace.
  • Strengthen your faith so that you can quench the fiery darts of the wicked one. This shield of faith represents a persistent and continual trust in God. To effectively use the shield of faith, we must identify Satan’s attacks, declare God’s blessings, reject fear, and move forward with confidence. Do not allow fear and doubt to rule your heart. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
  • Put on the helmet of your salvation and fill yourself with the word of God which is your weapon against the enemy. It is crucial when you are protecting the treasure that you guard your mind and thoughts. The helmet of your salvation is a living testimony of living a holy life. We must embrace the fact that we are saved and covered by the blood of Christ. I know that I have been cleansed by the blood of Christ and that I am a new creation. Your strength comes from the fact that you know that you are saved.

Protect the treasure that God has invested in you.

You can protect the treasure by staying close to the Shepherd of your soul.

In that great Psalm 23, David said, “I will fear no evil; For You are with me…” This is significant when we realize that we are jars of clay and that God has invested so much in us. The remainder of the chapter shows the depth of the Lord’s care over us. Though we go through deep valleys and face great enemies, the Lord is with us. You have to get hold of this truth and never let it slip. He is the only One Who can cause our cup to run over and show us goodness and mercy all of the days of our life. I know that the treasure that has been committed to me will be safe. You can apply all of this to your church, home, family, and your own body, mind, and spirit. I refuse to give up an inch. I claim my church, home, family. My body, mind and spirit have been claimed by God and I declare overcoming victory through Him.
