The Lord your God is your Redeemer.
Isaiah 47:4 NKJV As for our Redeemer, the Lord of hosts is His name, The Holy One of Israel.
It is important for us to correctly identify the one who will redeem our lives from destruction.
The Lord identifies Himself as our Redeemer.
Isaiah 44:6 NKJV “Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel, And his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: ‘I am the First and I am the Last; Besides Me there is no God.
Isaiah 48:17 AMP Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I am the Lord your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you in the way that you should go.
We should learn to identify the Lord our God with the varied names that have been attributed to Him.
We have taken account of the fact that God is many things to His people.
- He is Jehovah Jireh — The Lord who provides.
- He is Jehovah Nissi — The Lord Who gives me victory.
- He is Jehovah Shalom — The Lord calms our fears and gives peace.
- He is Jehovah Roi — The living God sees and provides.
- He is Jehovah Sabaoth — The Lord of Hosts with an army of angels.
- He is Jehovah Shammah — He is a present help in times of trouble.
- He is Jehovah M’Kaddesh — The Lord our Sanctification

The Israelites were captives in Egyptian bondage. They were burdened, oppressed, and could find no way to escape.
Exodus 6:6 NKJV Therefore say to the children of Israel: ‘I am the Lord; I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments.
God is the Goel of His people because He redeems them. It would help us to understand what a redeemer is.
When God gave commands about a kinsman redeemer, He was establishing a pattern and requirements for one who would redeem. Redemption covered every need and deficit a person could have. In mercy and great grace, God provided a method of redemption for those who experienced loss, oppression, or distress. The redeemer was an avenger of his family and had obligations to guarantee an inheritance would go to those who should receive the promise. They would buy back what had been lost, ransom those held in slavery, deliver from debt, and take away the reproach. To accomplish this, the redeemer had to be able to pay the full debt, avenge spilled blood, and be willing to redeem. If the redeemer was not willing or able, they could not redeem.
Job was in deep destress in his body and spirit.
Satan was afflicting him on every side. His children had been killed, their houses and wealth destroyed, and his wife turned against him. He was suffering in his body and was ready to die.
Job 19:25 NLT “But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and He will stand upon the earth at last.
Job 19:25 AMP For I know that my Redeemer and Vindicator lives, and at last He will stand upon the earth.
Job had hope because he knew God was his Redeemer.
Part of Job’s confidence was the fact that after everything, His Redeemer and Vindicator would be standing.
What does that mean for us?
God is my strength and He has become my salvation. He will bring me out regardless of what the enemy may do. Say it out loud: “I know that my Redeemer lives.”
Isaiah prophesied that a “Redeemer would come.”
Isaiah 41:13-14 NKJV For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, Saying to you, “Fear not, I will help you. Fear not, you worm Jacob, You men of Israel! I will help you,” says the Lord And your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
Jacob had become feeble and as despicable as a worm. God is telling them something you need to hear. God was saying, “I am coming to your aid.” God says, “I am Jehovah Goel — The Lord your Redeemer.” I will avenge your destructions and protect your families. I will purchase back what the enemy has stolen. When the Lord our God is called our Redeemer, it indicates His zeal and power to defend, protect, and purchase back His people.
Isaiah 43:1 NKJV But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine.
You need to know that the Lord your God has the power to redeem your life from destruction.
Isaiah 44:6 NKJV “Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel, And his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: ‘I am the First and I am the Last; Besides Me there is no God.
Remind yourself that God is the Lord of Hosts. All of the armies of God are at His disposal. He is greater than anything that you can face.
When Jehovah Goel — the Lord our Redeemer — was reminding Jacob and Israel of His intention, He spoke these words to them.
Isaiah 43:1-3 NKJV But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior…
When God refers to Himself as our Redeemer, He is letting us know that nothing can hinder Him.
He is able to deliver you. He is able to save your soul. He owns all of the wealth and riches in heaven and earth.
Psalm 103:1-5 NKJV Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
A major question arises that we must answer. How does God redeem His people?
1 Peter 1:18–19 NKJV …You were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
Hebrews 9:12 NLT With His own blood… He entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever.
Hebrews 9:22 AMP Without the shedding of blood there is neither release from sin and its guilt nor the remission of the due and merited punishment for sins.
You are rescued by the blood of Christ. You should take note of the things your Redeemer has done.
- Jehovah Goel has released you from the bondage of your previous failures by the precious blood of Christ.
- You are redeemed from the hand of the mighty, Job 6:23.
- You are redeemed out of all your troubles, Psalms 25:22.

Jehovah Goel — The Lord your Redeemer has come!
He has come to heal the sick, forgive your sins, give you peace, joy, and hope. If you will let Him in, He will do wonderful things for you. He will take your turmoil and strife and give you peace. He will take your hurt and grief and give healing and comfort. He will take your sorrow and sighing and give you joy and gladness. He will overflow you with His love, mercy and favor. He will give you a hope-filled future.
Hallelujah, my Redeemer lives.

Hallelujah, my Redeemer lives.
- He is the living God that sees.
- He is the God Who supplies all your need.
- He is the Lord of Hosts.
- He is the Prince of Peace.
- He is the Redeemer.
Psalm 107:19-21 NIV Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress. He sent forth His word and healed them; He rescued them from the grave. Let them give thanks to the LORD for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for men.

2 Chronicles 15:4 NIV But in their distress they turned to the LORD, the God of Israel, and sought Him, and He was found by them.
That is exactly what Jehovah Goel, the Lord your Redeemer, will do for you. If you are distressed, in trouble, need healing, are burdened with sin or sorrow, turn to the Lord. Your Redeemer lives. Hallelujah, my Redeemer lives. He is Jehovah — Goel.
